It's The Weekend, 12/04/2009, What Is Everyone Drinking?

Absolutely zero plans at this point.

Saturday night to celebrate my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah:

1996 Seavey Cab
1998 Marcoux CdP
2001 Duhart-Milon
2005 Coudoulet de Beaucastel

Friday Night: Vodka on rocks x 6

Saturday Night (Repeal Day): Gin Fizz will be my starting point. We’ll go from there

Sunday: Popping a Vielle Cure. I bought 6 from Max. One broke in my bag but it smelled delicious so I have to see what the fuss is about.

My oldest daughter and her husband are coming down for the weekend, so…

I suspect tomorrow, we’ll open something like this:

Either a Kistler or an Aubert Chard
A kosta Browne or a Kutch Pinot
Something bold from Foley or Switchback

It’s all downhill from there!!! [wink.gif]

Sounds like Randy’s b.day wines but a Mt. Eden chard, mag 06 Kutch, Switchback P.S. it was opened for 6 hrs. and could have used more.
Don’t know about the weekend yet, probably lots after basket making from hell.

Giddy to drink some wine this weekend since I’ve been struggling to get over a chest cold which has been difficult considering my baby boy keeps waking up at 5am.

Friday - going to bed early [wink.gif]

Saturday - my wife is making lamb ragu with papardelle.

I need to figure something out to pair with it; probably a CA pinot CA syrah or rhone blend.

No big plans but…

Zoemie de Sousa Brut Merveille(TGIFFF) [thumbs-up.gif]
and a 2005 CDR Villages with Beef Stew ( Hey gotta make room for the vintage of a lifetime)!

Enjoy yours,
Rip

I have a couple bottles of the 2006 Charles Smith Royal City Syrah. I know it’s way too early, but I always like to try new (new to me that is) wines when they are young and then save a couple for down the road. It’s educational to me, and more often than not the wines are still fantastic.

I opened one last night, just in case. I poured in a decanter, and then took a few sips. This one is packed with flavor, tons going on, but one of the tightest wines I have ever opened. Much too early. So, I poured back into the bottle, corked it, and am planning on retrying it tonight, and I am looking forward to it.

We’re having some friends over for Salmon and Pinots. Syrah and Rhones after dinner.
Dying to open a Carlisle 07 Papa’s Block, but I only have one and know I should wait…

Do it.

I am attending a networking luncheon this afternoon. I am bringing a 1979 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande.

I am excited about opening this as I recently acquired 3 of them.

I have no idea what the other 20 attendees will be bringing, but this is an annual luncheon where everyone tries to out do each other. I can post more later about what i end up tasting. If i can remember.

I’m hosting a wine tasting on Saturday focusing on the '89 Bordeaux vintage, with a few other goodies thrown in. I’m psyched, and hope the weather cooperates.

My wife is having her company holiday party Saturday night. The boss is doing a wine from around the world theme that he will take care of and he told everybody else to “bring something interesting.” As I have been battling a virus for about a week, I don’t know if my palate will be up to the tasting, but I will be bringing a 1979 St. Clement Cabernet.

I have some petrale sole ready to go tonight, but it is pretty well seasoned (thank you Bryan Flannery), so I haven’t figured out what to drink with it yet.

Brian, congrats on your daughters Bat Mitzvah!! I hope you have a wonederful time.

Tonight, I am drinking a 2006 Rhys Alesia Syrah Fairview Ranch. Don’t know about the rest of the weekend yet.

Just cracked a bottle of Heidsieck Rose Top Champagne…only $22 at Costco today.

My lovely bride and I just polished off a 2006 Carlisle Zinfandel Sonoma County with some bison cheeseburgers. Life is good.

Had a bottle of that last weekend and it is such a stellar QPR.

Sipping a white Rhone right now. but really no plans

Saturday night - Traci is bringing a bunch of Delta Gammas over for wine tomorrow afternoon…Tony and a bunch of ladies and wine…it will be a great afternoon. Saturday evening we head to the Southwest Airlines Christmas party. Won’t drink anything there

Sunday - pouring wines at an Eno/Edmunds St John/Broc Cellars event.

Popped (and decanted) an 05 KB Amber Ridge Syrah. Not stellar. Think I’ll stick to the pinots…

I drank some Black Butt Porters, Woodford Reserve…and a Carlisle Papa’s Block.
