Tack on the €60 round-(day)trip train ride from Paris and it could push the limit required to call this inexpensive eats.
But a plate of local choucroute and a few native rieslings btg and in carafes and this fits the bill for an inexpensive awesome meal while strolling the day in Strasbourg.

Love a choucroute! The older I get, the more I appreciate the simple central European and Nordic cuisines. They’re so honest and comforting and still under-appreciated.
Paris might be one of the best cities in the world to eat well without spending a fortune. Lots of 25-30 euro lunch specials and a number of 25-35 euro pre fix dinners. Plus a plethora of casual, inexpensive options. See the Paris thread for some write ups.
Will add here an overall delicious dining experience that can easily cost upwards of 2X if offered in my neck of the woods (NYC), or frankly, anywhere else. My wife, who knows exactly where my tastebuds go ga-ga on these days, made a great call with reserving dinner at one of our pre-Covid mainstays, a few days ago.
The steak à la sauce au poivre ranks among the best I’ve had with the perfect medium rare, melt-in-mouth mature strip loin, laid on a deliciously balanced flavors of appropriately peppered, elegantly rich, excellent sauce.
Our comped dessert is easily one among the most memorable ones that we’ve ended a meal with lately. Thyme sorbet, generously sprinkled with crunchy bits of chocolate and thyme, on a wonderful sauce of fruity-fresh Greek olive oil. Bravo!
La Bourse et La Vie did not stay stagnant all these years, including the top notch appetizers, they apparently amped it up in all fronts.
