The rest of a Fontanafredda Barbera that was shockingly cheap at $10. Nice smoky dark fruit, nice flavors, moderate tannins and best of all - no blowtorch acids.
I planned on popping an 06 Cali Pinot and an 06 Burg … but my dentist visit was way more intense than I planned. Not going to waste them since I can hardly eat.
Sadly I don’t have any cheap cocktail wines at home like a Molly Dooker. That would hit the spot right now.
Not sure what I’m popping. Possibly a cheap Spanish or a Muscadet. Nothing too exciting. Or maybe I’ll drop by WineX and see if there is any of that Martini Cab left.
Don’t know yet! I picked up a couple of the best Oregon white truffles I’ve ever smelled-- they’re far more aromatic, even, than the black ones I raved about last month-- so I’m thinking a local Pinot would be nice.
THanks for the heads up on this Cris. A well rated CA Cab for $12? Can’t beat that. I’ll have to pop over there to check them out myself.
I picked up a 2007 Viña Cobos Cabernet Sauvignon El Felino last time I was at Winex for $16. The guy behind the counter raved about it and folks on Cellartracker seem to like it. It has been calling me the last few days.
Thanks for that tip Jeremy. WineX sold out of the Martini on their initial go around but they were tasting that and the $10 Saumur they sold out of a couple months ago at Thursday’s tasting so evidently they are back in stock.
