It's Monday Night, what did normal people eat

Sitting here at the shop, both of us on laptops, posting on the board, watching the game, drinking an 06 Kutch RRV Pinot and the Princess informs me its a “Pigs-in-a-blanket” night. Any suggestions on an appropriate wine for this epicurean delight???

I marinaded some Orange Roughy, baked it & had it with some wild rice and left over wine from our wedding. Maaaaybe a half step ahead of you, but I think your wine wins. To even the score, I’m opening another one.

(I’m celebrating draining the last tank at work – the final press of the 09 harvest is mere hours away and I’ll be damned if I’m not hung over whilst doing it)

Yestderday I was sitting here all alone on a pretty busy night trying to figure out if I could make it till 9pm without getting some deliver when a neighbor / regular came in with a big plate of steak & cherry tomato empanadas straight from the oven. As she left she said: “I’m still fine tuning the filling…tell me what you think”.

SCORE!

Had to enjoy them with a Mexican coke though. Still at work.

Tonight I’m thinking Thai or Vietnamese and some Rosé bubbly…

We’re not normal people, but we had leftover tortelloni tonight with a Cal-Sangiovese. Very enjoyable.

After reading your post, Carrie came up with a Sean Thackrey Sangiovese as a good idea. We love his Petit Sirah, Sirius, and now you’ve peaked our interest. Of course we’ll take three or four other wines home just in case.

I’m ITB also (retail) and I brown bagged the remnants of the closest I’ve come to a perfectly roasted cheekin. Not my store so I couldn’t drink anything in the shop. Had some Chateau de Montfaucon Les Gardettes Pays du Gard when I got home.

I had organic mac n’ cheese, then went to a movie with Ella, then came home and had a slice of leftover pizza with Cabot ‘bacon fat’ Syrah

Created on the spot from what I had handy, nominally Italian take on lentil soup. Turned out great, lots of rosemary and garlic and olive oil. Sourdough bread fresh from the oven and Brunello. Yum.

where are the normal people?

Last night we had a Santa Maria style Tri-Tip on top of a mixed greens salad that had Kalamata olives, crumble blue cheese, Sunburst and Grape Tomatoes, shredded carrots and my homemade dressing. Paired it with a 2007 Casa Nuestra Rose of Cab Franc and then a 2003 Bonaccorsi Syrah Star Lane Vineyard.

Grilled turkey burgers with sauteed mushrooms and zucchini ratatouille topped with diced, crisped prosciutto and grated aged gouda. To drink, ice-cold Modelo Especial.

Actually had some pigs in a blanket last week when I was in Champagne…it seemed to go well enough.

I had a scary night at the Hitching Post for a burger with Brian Loring, Peter Carg, Morgan Clendenen and a few others. Definitely not normal people. And I had the hangover this morning to prove that I was not with normal people last night.

I’m also disclaiming any link to normal folks. Last night was leftover take-out Chinese and a previously opened German Riesling Kabinett.
