If I remember correctly, it is owned by a Korean businessman who really invested a lot of money in the facility/vineyard. His pricing reflects it, somewhere around $300. P Melka is the winemaker.
“One can-t say enough about what proprietor Hi Sang Lee and his son, both from Seoul, Korea, have accomplished at what used to be called the Livingston-Moffett Estate in Rutherford. They have dramatically transformed that estate into their Helms Vineyard, to which they have added the Lotus Vineyard from the St. Helena hillsides and the Hershey Vineyard on Howell Mountain. The consulting winemaker is Philippe Melka, and as the following notes attest, their 2007s are off the charts. Moreover, the 2008s look strong, although there is no Howell Mountain Cabernet since that vineyard was completely wiped out because of spring frosts.”
I was looking at the new issue and…Harlan now lists for $700?? How did that happen. I also see the new Mondavi wine at $200. Looks like Bob liked it but $200 for a brand new Cab, with their history, in this economy?? I will add I picked up a few of the continuum 2005 a years or so ago, mostly out of respect for Robert. It was ok. 88-90 to me. But what do I know
The Lewellings apparently scored well and each of my 6 pair cost less than $90.00. I am no longer a paying WA member so I don’t know any scores.
I agree about the Maybach and Scarecrows. I am on very few remaining lists and they will also be gone if they raise it too much.
