It's Friday, 10/02/09...What Is Everyone Drinking This Weekend?

Friday night is pizza night at the Hughes household, so I just pulled the corks on an '06 and '04 Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva.

Tomorrow, I’m heading over to a friend’s for some random drinking and grilling. These guys enjoy wine, but are not collectors, so I stood up a six-pack of:

1993 Ridge Zin (I forget if it’s Geyserville or LS)
1993 Ferrand Lartigue
1981 LLC
2004 Vieux Telegraphe CDP (Le Crau?)
A 2004 Vacqueras from somebody?
And I’m drawing a blank on the 6th bottle (you can tell I put a lot of thought into this [tease.gif]

No plans for tonight.

Tomorrow I’m headed to a Thomas Keller/French Laundry/Bouchon inspired dinner.

2004 Culler Syrah Griffin

Karen

Welcom, Karen!

Tailgater at Autzen Stadium tomorrow. Smoking 9 racks of babybacks in the morning, figure Pinot and Pork is a good combination.

Will do a flight of 06 Oregon Pinot Noir’s:

  1. Shea Homer
  2. Lemelson - Meyer Vineyard
  3. Antica Terra
  4. Patton Valley
  5. Ponzi Reserve
  6. Ken Wright - Shea

Hope the rain holds off, both for the Oregon harvest and the ball game.

Go Ducks!!!

Had Jacques-Frederic Mugnier Nuits St Georges Clos de la Marechale 2006 and La Mission Haut Brion 1995 tonight, also some Ferrari Brut NV and Ployez-Jacquemart Brut NV as well. Good stuff all around.

Just opened a 1996 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile. Very youthful still. Lovely minerality. No premox.

Last glass of 05 Carlisle Two Acres opened earlier in week.

1996 Seavey Cab (my first Cali Cab in ages).

Cheers, [cheers.gif]

Steve

Be careful, Steve, soon you’ll be at 20 posts, then you can’t call yourself a lurker anymore!!

Hey, I’m doing the same thing tonight. What a coincidence. [tease.gif]

Last night with grilled sausages, red and green bell peppers, etc…

2006 Château de Lancyre Coteaux du Languedoc Pic St. Loup Rosé

2007 Miner Simpson Vineyard Viognier (first bottle of a case at $10 per!!)

And a bunch of Roses yet to be named!!

There is plenty remaining in the bottle.

Tonight a 2000 Henri Bonneau CndP ‘Reserve des Celestins’ with pork chops and beets.

Now have a 1998 Gunderloch Jean Baptiste Kabinett. Bright and lively. Proper kabinett weight and sweetness.
