Sorry, I could not resist. But I am getting a little tired of defending great, traditional Bordeaux to people who drink wines that I cannot begin to understand what they see in them. To each his own.
That’s OK I’m getting tired of hearing people who are overly sensitive to alcohol, try to defend weak, flavorless wines, because they believe their opinions actually matter. To each his own
Don’t bother. You said it yourself, to each his own. I am fortunate that I can easily enjoy both Bevan and Latour. Just maybe not with the same meal. Stop wasting your time. It’s like defending Pepsi to Coke drinkers.
Fortunately last night Scott, next to the 2002 Harlan Maiden was also a 2008 Bruno Clavelier Orveau, drinking from the same table. The thread title and your comment about Burgundy seems to be what I experienced last night.
I had some gorgeous pan roasted duck breasts last night, and decided to try a 2007 CdP to go with them. Obviously the mistake was mine; the wine wasn’t in magnum. It could hardly finish the glass. Hot, alcoholic, gloopy (technical term).
I am also too old to “defend” the wines I like or to get frustrated with others who may not like them. To each his own indeed.
