Is This The Most Expensive White/Dessert Wine Produced In The USA??

Seriously…$200 for a 375 mL bottle?

flavors of ripe pineapple and honey lead to a long, luscious finish."

ROFL. 95+ point stickies are a dime a dozen, people aren’t fooled by points on these.

But…This…Is…SINGLE…BERRY!

I could swear I’ve seen one more expensive, but for the life of me it is escaping me. Obviously was a major passsss when I saw it sitting there, whatever it was.

Could be this…

1999 Dolce Saint Nicholas

Dolce Saint Nicholas is a rare, one-of-a-kind bottling made from grapes picked on December 6, 1999, the feast day of Saint Nicholas. The unusually late harvest yielded just four barrels of wine, enough to make 1,000 hand-numbered, 750 ml bottles.

$500.00/Bottle

– update was reading up on this… to their credit, Far Niente donates $200 to the Make A Wish Foundation for every bottle of St. Nicholas sold.

Isn’t there one made from Todd Anderson’s tears yet?

There is one out there, but it isn’t made from tears…

All in.

The price is ridiculous. I haven’t tried 05, but have had a few others, especially the 2000 which I bought around eight bottles of. I got it on incredible blow-out, making it one of my best bargains ever. IMO the wine is great. It’s gotten better over time. The last I had was a few years back and I’m trying to save the last three. The flavors have incredible depth, and what is a lot of sugar is balanced out by quite a bit of acidity. I’ve had a lot of Mr K’s (and Krachers) and the Eroica is every bit as good. Crazy money, but what’s in the glass is very impressive if you get to try it. CSM actually does pretty well with their dessert wines. The Ethos LH Riesling is much less expensive and pretty darned good.

Holy thread revival I know. Just purchased the 2001 Single Berry for $55. Any Seattle area locals I encourage you to take a look or a call to any area PCC Natural Market and see if they have any going at this rate. I couldn’t stomach it for $200 but will gladly take a couple off their hands for $55.

This was pretty good when I tasted it at ACV last month. 2006 Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards Pinot Gris Napa.
Picked up a couple of bottles.

Just for some perspective here, and I sell CSM, this wine is made in the same way Germans do TBA, they go thru each bunch of grapes and one by one select the fully botrytisized grapes ("single-berry) for this wine. In the scheme of things it is more than fairly priced compared to German TBA, although at the price most won’t take the risk to find out.

Ernie Loosen works with Bob to make this, and it really is the best New World example.
