Yes. But people don’t think think of burgundy domaine/negotiant classifications in the same way they do champagne growers/non growers is my point. Like Brad said, it’s a marketing initiative.

For it to be grower Champagne, does a producer need to grow all the grapes it uses in its Champagne production across all cuvees or does it count as grower Champagne if they grow grapes for just that cuvee?
Without the name, there certainly has been a lot of discussion about this issue in Burgundy for a very long time and I know people who will not buy wines from Jadot, Faiveley, Drouhin, Bouchard, etc., for this reason even though they will buy Krug, CdC, Dom, etc.
When I started buying Burgundy, with a few exceptions, wines from smaller domaines that grow their own grapes were a cheaper alternative to wines from the top negociants. Things have flipped around for a long time now, but the main difference between Burgundy and Champagne in this regard is not terminology but rather just that Champagne is about 30 years behind Burgundy.
