Interesting comment by Tanzer on QC

We had it up against an Araujo as well, along with some Pride Reserve Cabs. My wine buddy did tell me it showed better the next day, and perhaps the difference in style from the California Cabs (Tanzer’s comments nothwithstanding) contributed to my opinion, but it sure seemed like a simple wine to me…

I had QC back as far as the 1995 vintage. I was never inspired by any bottle that I opened from any vintage. They all went to auction.

Amazing the number of people that always respond negatively to this wine and yet year after year, consistent high scores from ALL the major critics and a multi year waiting list for allocations.

…just sayin… [whistle.gif]

I had two bottles of the 1992 last year that were pretty damn good. They might be one-offs (found at a wine bar called Barolo, nonetheless). A very tiny sample size, but I’d love to have another one again! Other than that, the 1998 was the oldest I have had, and wasn’t impressed.

I understand where you are coming from, and don’t dispute what you say. In my case, I was on the list for many years and when it came time to drink, they just never hit my palate.

shows what you know… talked to sis and it was 1993. anyway, was not an exciting wine.

the 06 QC didn’t seem any less complex to me than the other wines we had, only different. i quite liked it for what it had, but wished it had some of what it lacked.

I agree, we tried the '95 and '96 about a month ago in Seattle. Although a little impressed at first, overall they did nothing for me. Betz, Dellile and Andrew Will were much better

I like the 1993, but it EASILY the weakest wine that Quilceda produced in all of the 1990’s and probably since the 1988. And I’ve had them all on multiple occasions. Just saying.
