I opened a 2019 WS Sonoma Valley the other night. A few months ago I had the same wine, from same wine fridge and it was glorious. All that I chase after in wine. On Monday, this bottle was good, but the nose was almost closed and the finish was not much at all,
I’m wondering if this variationin quality is common in general, or is a known WS defect. Thanks for any opinions.

Not to be obtuse - but was it the Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County or Russian River Valley? They don’t make a Sonoma Valley that I know of… They all kind of evolve a bit differently, with the Coast/RRV a bit more consistent. For a long time the Sonoma County was kickouts and varied greatly year to year as far as composition. These (assuming nothing has changed since I worked there) are also unfiltered/unfined. They tend to have some ups and downs over the years, sometimes showing more open, sometimes more closed. Definitely not a defect, just different expression on a different day.

A 2019 Williams Selyem appellation pinot? And he had one a couple months ago which was fine?
Not how I see it, but who knows.
