Just echoing others in saying thank you for all the effort in producing these over the years. I remember debating a birth year wine purchase for my oldest son and after listening to the episode with Jean-Louis Chave thinking “yes, this is the right one for him.” For our family that was a small but meaningful choice and it was very much influenced by your work. Again, sincere thanks for the wisdom you shared through these podcasts.
Thanks to those who have been supportive and kind, also over the years.
I love these podcasts. They helped me commute to work, as I often listened to them going to and from work. A few of my favorites
69: David Schildknecht | I’ll Drink to That! Wine Talk
I loved the interview of David Schildknecht. I bought a lot of wine from David in the 1980s and 1990s when he was in retail, and it was fascinating to me to listen to David discuss the wine market in the DC market in the mide-1980s. David was my expert, and I could not believe how much of what he was telling me were things he had learned about 6 months before (rather than years before). But, David was right and I learned a lot from him. This interview really let David be David - a question would be asked, and then David would talk for 15 minutes. Really enjoyed this.
130: Peter Weygandt | I’ll Drink to That! Wine Talk
Loved this interview of Peter Weygandt where Peter discusses how he met Truchot, etc. Just wonderful.

I went to the dinner at the first Rieslingfeier in NYC. Sat at a table with David Schildknecht, who I had not seen in years. Brought to the dinner several older bottles that I had bought from David years before when he was in retail in DC. One of the wines I brought was a 1985 Enkircher Batterieberg Auslese, a really excellent wine. Levi was the sommelier for our table and so tasted this and the other wines others and I brought. At the event was Gernot Kollmann, the then new owner of the estate. David brought the wine over to him to taste it. So, I was fascinating to have Levi Dalton and Gernot Kollmann discuss the estate. At some point (about 12 minutes into the interview), they discuss how good a 1985 was (that Levi Dalton said he had tasted recently). I have always wondered if he was taking about the wine I had brought or whether he also had the wine elsewhere. So, for this and a number of reasons this interview fascinated me.
I regret that, even though I’d heard of the series, I didn’t start listening to it until about a year ago, when I got some AirPods that let me listen while out on walks lol.
IDTT is by far the best source of information about wine, wine regions, winemaking, and wine personalities I’ve found, and it’s not even close. Every episode I listen to is at very least entertaining, and most are packed with fantastic information and insights. The amount of effort you have put in to connecting the dots between guests, often spanning many years, is incredible.
Lots of favorites, but the standout for me thus far is the Françoise Vannier episode.
With 500 episodes, and numerous other podcast series (now I’m getting into The rest is history), looks like I have many years of listening to get through them all.
Anyway, thank you Levi for your amazing work!
+1000% I have been working my way through the older episodes. What’s most impressive is how Levi weaves in parts of past interviews episodes to add more contex. This has really helped me to understand the relationships between winemakers who have worked together and how resulting stylistic choices in winemaking have evolved especially in France.
The more we send in a few dollars the more shows we will get. Is it worth the cost of a bottle of wine for the pleasure?
I’m curious, @Levi_Dalton do YOU have favorites of the podcast episodes? Or are they like children too hard to pick? I’ve always thought it sounded like you really enjoyed the Occhipinti episodes…. Haha.
But any standouts or people you just still can’t believe you got to interview?
I’ve got to save some stuff for my book, Matt.

I just listened to the David Ramey one last night on my drive home. So good.
I’m putting on a technical tasting of the delayed malo wines for our cellar team. Curious to see and taste what we experience.
This is the OG wine podcast. I’ve learned so much from listening to Levi and the guests. I cranked through a lot of new ones this week on my drives home. The harrowing recount from Meike and her sister was unbelievable.
I’m so curious to try delayed malo in our cellar.
