Iced Tea

I’m a big iced tea drinker/maker and was wondering what teas to folks here like to turn into iced tea? Anything special I should be on the lookout for?

lame?

Ignore Sarah she’s a hapless noob non-initiate.

Iced Tea is, by no small margin, the perfect beverage. Don’t get me wrong I love beer and wine and skim milk and sparkling water and whiskey and lots more, but nothing can touch iced tea in terms of how totally awesome it is.

My favorites are Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Tazo Zen (Green w/ a bit of Lemongrass), Hibiscus, Darjeeling and Honeybush.

We are regular iced tea drinkers in the afternoons. We generally use various green and black teas from the Republic of Tea. We are currently using Mango Ceylon, Passion Fruit Papaya, and Ginger Peach. They are all good with a slice of Pixie Tangerine.

We used to also use Paradise Tea, but it’s no longer available here.

Sweet Tea Vodka…

That stuff gets raves where I work…

I can’t tolerate sweetness in iced tea - no sugar, honey, or artificial sweeteners.

Actually one of my favorite iced teas is Jasmine Green tea. I got used to that at a Vietnamese restaurant i ate lunch at once or twice a week when I was working. There are a number of brands, currently we use Republic of Tea’s version.

You work on skid row?

Regular iced tea, unsweetened, is my cold drink of choice. Occasionally, I enjoy Earl Gray and Constant Comment iced. In addition to quenching a thirst, tea is great for motion sickness and other queasy stomach problems.

If you’ve never tried the chinese oolong tea Ti Kwan Yin iced, it’s really good. Then again, almost any oolong is great iced. I think that white teas are good iced too, White Peony comes to mind. Neither needs sweetener, but a touch of honey doesn’t hurt…

Arnold Palmer tea. Iced tea and lemonade.

Druken Arnold Palmer is Iced tea, lemonade and vodka.

Wouldn’t that be the John Daly?

[blush2.gif] Sorry…couldn’t resist.

I am constantly reminding servers who refill my glass with mostly tea that “The first word in ‘Ice Tea’ is ‘ICE’!” And, yes, I said “Ice Tea” not “Iced” just like they say “smoke sausage” in Louisiana. No time for past participles, we’re trying to visit here…

Just another good ole Arkansas boy! [drinks.gif]

Holy sweet baby moses in a river that sounds fantastic.

I too am a fan of the Paradise Tea (loose tea leaves only!) for iced tea. I always desire making Sun Tea but how okie can one get, right? What would the neighbors think if I’ve got Sun Tea sitting out in the porch (house front faces West and there really isn’t much sun anywhere else coming into the house).

Who gives a shit what they think!! Just do it. It brews great tea!

But if you know someone who is in the restaurant business, ask them to give you a gallon glass jug with a screw on lid. I have three or four of them.

Brew up a batch and have the neighbors over for a glass. Serve it to them in a pint/quart mason jar. Size depends on how much you like them.

I know a few people in the restaurant biz.

Actually, I have one of them dang things… it’s just so embarrassing. I feel like my okie roots are showing.

Ooooh Milos. For iced tea, my favorite is the the Moroccan Mint Iced Tea… soo good. I get it at Kean Coffee (guy from the Diedrich’s Coffee chain before he was bought out by Starbucks).
Their Rose Petal Black tea is also awesome, but the Mint iced tea is so good and refreshing on a hot day.

Moroccan Mint is indeed a fantastic iced tea flavor, good call!
