This is going to sound a little namby-pamby or Pollyanna-ish, and of course there are a number of legendary wines I’d love to drink, but honestly, I look forward to drinking exactly what’s in my cellar right now over the course of the next 30 years or so. I really do want to drink what I own.

what are you looking to drink?
It’s house wine or for friends of Domaine as gifts. They used to get enough fruit for about a barrel of wine and did half oaked and half in stainless. Would love to try the naked expression of B-M. Not sure what ornif they do it now.
I’ll pile on and say Jayer Cros Parantoux. And Cuvee Cathelin.

Oh, I suppose my specifics are fairly classical these days, Howard. We’ve chatted about my Wines of the Year Essays.
Rousseau, Truchot, Mugnier (Chambolle 1r Crus, especially), Mugneret Gibourg, Bachelet, Dujac. Preferably with 15+ years, although some 17s were phenomenal last year. My last three years have been so full with amazing wines. More of these, is really all I look/hope for. Particularly in vintages/vineyards I’ve yet to try. Like the top Piano pieces to which I listen so often: Simple, pure pleasures .

I can still taste the 1969 La Tache you opened for me, Tim.
I was lucky enough to have 1964 Faiveley Musigny in the 1990s. The best, most psychedelic burg I have ever had.
1990 Chateau Margaux. The 2 times I have drank it, it is was stunning!
I am retiring next month, and so it shall be.
It’s helpful for me to break it down as:
- commercially available wines
- special vintages
- non-commercially available wines
I believe this is the only commercially available wine I have in my “need to try” list
There are many vintages of wines that I’ve had I would love to try. Too many to name here. A couple of highlights are 61 Jaboulet La Chapelle, 1945s from many producers, 1800s Yquem, etc.
Of the non commercially available wines, the DRC BM is probably the most well known. Same with the Rousseau BB.
