I never buy enough wine from each release it seems. Right now I am sipping on a 2011 Myriad Sugarloaf and I only have one bottle left. I wish I had six. I only bought a mixed three pack of the recent Quivet cab release because I plan to go big with the Myriad and RM releases but I wish I had bought more Quivet. Always more. Only so much money and space to go around though.
I am kicking myself for not buying more of the 2011 Myriad Napa Cab, especially at $50 a bottle.

This is the one that comes to my mind too.
July 15th, 2014 at 10am can’t get here soon enough.
There is so much great wine and so little space and money that I’m starting to move in the opposite direction and limit myself to two bottles of something. The cellar is so full that in some cases I’m even limiting myself to singles, which I’m sure I’ll regret down the line.
I am actually starting to take the opposite approach
Limit the number of lists but get a minimum of 6 and if possible get 12 of a certain wine, that way you can see it develop. Once you have identified winerys and particular blends that you like I think this is a safe bet. For example love Kosta so I started buying 6 bottles of each Sonoma Coast release, I think down the road watching these develop will be fascinating, I also just started Monte Bello futures, that could be good also
I bought too much, and now matter how much I drink, I can’t seem to reduce the cellar. I buy a good bottle or two, then a sixer of the daily drinkers that are very good so hardly ever drink the really good wines.
Funny because I never buy enough wine, yet I buy way too much wine. I’m trying to take the path of going deeper with fewer producers.
Budget dude. Sounds like you’re playing it safe, just like me, and other folks as well. I am optimistic that in the future I’ll have the funds to buy more, but it will only be from a few trusted producers who continue to make great wine and actually appreciate my business.
I used to worry about just this, always chasing the feeling you get when you drink something awesome and realize you have 11 more. That’s great, but I’ve stopped worrying about it. I’d rather get two or three of five different wines. Now that I have a bunch of trusted producers, I can trust that I’ll replicate that great feeling over and over with different wines. If I only have one or two more of them, that’s okay, because the next wine will likely be just as good. I don’t need eight of the Siduri Rosella’s 2012, because I know the 2013 Rosella’s or the 2012 Garys or whatever will be just as good…or almost as good…or better. More fun this way.
Good problem to have.
I have been thinking lately of further reducing mailing lists so I can go deeper with the wineries I like most. And with some wineries that I love like Bedrock, going deeper with certain wines rather than trying to buy two of each offered.
I guess this qualifies as a first world problem.
