I’ve got a bottle of 2014 La Tache and a bottle of 2015 RC that I”m looking to sell and wondering where the best place for them to go is. They’re located in Canada but I can take them to NY easily. Bought from the LCBO and kept in offsite storage from purchase. Also unfortunately the romanee conti has a nick on the label. Auctions are okay but I’d rather a sale where I don’t have to wait for a few months.
If you have a relationship with somebody at an auction house, you can prob negotiate 0% seller premium on 2 easy to sell high dollar bottles like that.
Honestly though, I’d look at hammer prices and just try and sell here. Save the buyer the 20-25% BP and you don’t have to wait to get paid.
I’d like $28k for the two of them but am open to offers. They have gone from the LCBO warehouse to the best offsite storage in Toronto and have never moved so there’s a great known history for the bottles and I”m the only owner.
I’m happy to hand deliver to NYC or anywhere else that’s about 5 hours or so away from Toronto. That included Uovo in NJ where I have a bunch of wine already.
Hi, I’ve sold DRC from the same era as you have using the Commerce Corner on three separate occassions.
I posted asking price of 20% below non-auction wine-searcher low. I got my asking price on all single bottles and took a little less when someone bought multiple bottles. I also purchased at release and kept them properly.
I had a $$ amount goal (was selling to use the money for charitable donation), offering all of my owned bottles but closing the sale when I reached my target. FWIW, I have several vintages of RC worth big bucks, but never sold any this way.
Best of luck. Looking at auction prices is the best place to get realistic values. Demand is moving up from where it was a few years ago, but it’s still nowhere near the frothy early 2022 market.
