I have to politely disagree with this statement regarding Roulot in 2005. I think Roulot’s restrained style shines brilliantly in ripe years like 2005 and 2009. I’ve gone thru a case of the 05 lieu dits and 2 months ago I poured the MP from 05 for a group of burg nuts, it was sublime and not at all heavy. In Don’s 2005 Vintage assessment Roulot’s wines showed really well compared to others, here is the summary from Dinner No. 1:
“Thusfar, 2005 also appears to be a very producer-driven vintage. The wines from Boillot, Colin-Morey and Roulot were all excellent. The wines from Lafon and LeMoine were disappointing. I’m looking forward to night two.”
It’s apparently about some guy who wants his son to carry on his vineyards, but looks for a surrogate, etc…and someone related to this thread (Not long john jeremy…) is in the cast.
That actor (Dr. Vermont), sadly, had no such opportunity, as his own father died suddenly…and very young…and there was no smooth transition…nor any generational transfer to ponder
