I like Roulot

  • 2007 Domaine Guy Roulot Meursault Les Tessons Clos de Mon Plaisir - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (8/11/2013)
Beautifully pure, clean and expressive on the nose. The peach fruit aroma is just ripe and comes with a big squeeze of lemon juice. It has plenty of minerally things going on and in the mouth is rich but under a tight rein from the brisk acidity. It has terrific proportion and poise and leaves an impression of flora and chalk once swallowed.
  • 2004 Domaine Guy Roulot Meursault Les Tillets - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (8/9/2013)
Has some cooler herbal notes now along with fresh lime, citrus and mineral. It is precise, fresh and detailed with a cool heart and just a hint of Meursault butteriness. It finishes with good cut.

yes. Roulot is a good thing.

If you like Roulot, what do you love…?

Hehe…me too!

I used to think the 07 perrieres was the best young white I’d had…then I tried the 2010…

As you should…

Nice notes Jeremy.

I can still taste the 02 Perrieres from 10 days ago
pretty long finish

You like Roulot ?

I thought everybody like Roulot !

Me too . A Meursault les Virreuils 2010 last week was really tasty , surprisingly ready . A beautiful wine .

But like all of his peers , he can miss out too . His 2005’s , for example , are heavy wines , in complete contrast to his house style which I think are mineral fine wines with good acidities .

More Roulot Please!!

Herwing, a 2005 Roulot Meursault Tillets tasted last June along with a 2005 Coche Mersault was sublime and not heavy at all. Actually it showed better than the Coche which was a nice wine as well.

So, you think Herwig is wrong, Charis? [oops.gif]

I still trust him and his tastebuds and taste, though.

I wish I could chime in on this debate but every '05 roulot I’ve opened recently has been badly premoxed.

Ahhh Jeremy, you are a man of great judgment and taste!!! Never had a Roulot that I did not at least like…a lot!

Cheers,
Blair

what eric said. if you like Roulot what wine do you “love”?

the understatement, tension, cool and almost always green herbal pungent notes found in most of his wines is what i dig. alot.

I love Roulot ‘Perrieres’.

You probably own all 20 bottles they make each year!!

I remember my first visit, in 1988, when Ted Lemon had just left and Frank Grux, a nephew of Guy Roulot, was in charge. You couldn’t get a bottle of Perrieres or Charmes to save your life. And, later, in 2001, visiting with Jean-Marc…no Perrieres for sale…and , finally, in 2004…3 bottles (of 2002) between two friends. Luckily, my friend thought the price was too high. Maybe the most difficult bottling to come by…of any of the estates I visited…in Burgundy. I don’t know of any other bottle that was as difficult to pry from its estate…or one that even comes that close.

I’d have to think of the second place finisher…but it’s not evident…Engel Grands Echezaux was very hard…but…mainly because they never could keep their inventory count straight.

This would make a good thread…the hardest bottle of white or red burgundy to pry from its maker on a visit…or later.

What is yours…Jeremy?
anyone?

DRC batard montrachet.

Stuart,

I get 1 bottle of Roulot ‘Perrieres’ per year from the Australian distributor. It is easier to find on wine lists throughout France and can still be bought for a reasonable price.

Best Regards
Jeremy

Ah yes. flirtysmile
