Anyone know any details? I had heard that they were in the fire’s path and the place has burned down. I cannot find much on-line, but I certainly hope it is not true. Their Arrogant Bastard is a great version of a Belgian ale.
They definitely evacuated, were still making jokes about using Bud Lite to fight fires late yesterday:
Tweet from an hour ago, seems they are OK:
Stone Brewing Co. @StoneBrewingCo
THANK YOU to the hard-working heroes keeping us safe during these wildfires and the compassionate people reaching out with care and concern.
my buddy who lives down there said the fire burned right next to Stone, but he didn’t mention Stone burning at all.
btw, Bob, there is nothing Belgian about Arrogant Bastard.
Yeah, I know it is described as an American strong Ale, but it has always tasted like it has a Belgian influence to me. We had a giant 6l bottle of it- aged more than 5 years, and when we finally opened it was fantastic. Of course, my own comment is more likely than not my own bias, but regardless, I really do like it a lot.
Rumors run rampant. That fire started across the freeway from my office a little after 3:30 pm on Wednesday and it is still a danger. Stone is right near a new large hospital so friends who have a business in that area felt that much would be done to save anything close. Then they were evacuated on Thursday afternoon. So many fires and so many stories. It will be a while before all facts are known. I hadn’t heard of any businesses lost. Several homes and ranches did burn in the hills south of Stone. Scary times.
Okay. You need to start a thread based on this right here.

damn, and to think that Stone makes us stop selling it after it 120 days! Maybe they want it to stop going belgian…
Let’s change the header. Stone facility is still whole and they only evacuated. Guy in my office who lives close drove to the parking lot on Saturday to see the view from near Palomar Hospital. He said the fire came very close but the buildings are untouched by fire.
There is a distinct smoky character in the upcoming “enjoy by” series though.
(edit- replaced drink with enjoy- Thanks Charlie)
enjoy by 7.04.14 coming out next friday! Nothing like BBQ, Fireworks and fire…
Well, that is good to hear!
We have been aging some for 4 years in the cellar based on that awesome experience with the aged 6l bottle.
