Enjoying a 2012 ESJ Rocks & Gravel tonight. Damn, this is terrific. Spicy, zesty, Rhonish bouquet with garrigue, smoke, and sweet scents of cinnamon hard candy. Nice attack with loads of brightness and energy with some glycerin and dry extract providing ballast and layering. Maybe not the last word in complexity, but this is seriously tasty and true, and was once upon a time a sensational value.

Just finishing the dregs of this R&G (preserved in the freezer), and wow, so good. I’m a little surprised as I usually far prefer ESJ’s syrahs to his other varietals. I had a Fenaughty syrah recently and it was killer.
A stash of ESJ syrah (mostly Wylie Fenaughty) just hit WineBid.
Except for '05 W-F listed, I have multiples of all of those so I’m not a bidder. I’m going to track those lots just to see how much they go for.
