Hubbette's Bday: C. Bouchard, DP, Papes, Sanctus Santorum

 Celebrated my lovely wife’s birthday last night with our kids and close friends. Local fine rustic eatery.

2005 Cedric Bouchard Inflorencense - Love this stuff. Seemless on the palate with a bit of grip. Everything you want in a BdN. 94

2002 Dom Perignon - just keeps getting better with age. Maybe better than '96? Completely different animal from the Bouchard. More yeasty but certainly more linear then the '96. Gladd I went long on these. 94

2003 Clos de Papes CNdP - Controversial wine for sure but this showed beautifully Not a hint of over ripeness. No stew. Very stemmy for sure. Old school. 95

2009 Clos St. Jean Sanctus Santorum CNdP en magnum - this took a while to come around but when it did it simply exploded in the glass. Amazing density yet airy on the palate. The nose keeps evolving into all sorts of enchanting aromas. A real baby but so lucky to not only taste but really drink. 98

Love both Champagnes. Nice notes!

Nice job Kelly. I like the 2002 Dom! I still have 10 2003 Clos des Papes.
Looks like time has come to try it out again.
Cheers!

Nice set of wines. Thanks for the notes, especially on the Clos St. Jean. Funny as I was just asking about this in Jonathan’s Sanctus thread. Seems this bottle is getting popped in multiple vintages.

Why is it titled “Hubby’s Bday” if it was your wife’s birthday?

You could have made more confusing by calling it “Kelly’s Bday”.

Why no Nebbiolo?

Inquiring minds want to know!

My use of hubby is like ‘main squeeze’. Actually my only squeeze. Do you know of another meaning?

I have only had the 2002 Dom once, but it was spectacular. Nice notes and Happy Birthday to your wife, Kelly!

Thanks,
Ed

Hubby is short for husband, not spouse or main squeeze.

But I think you’re just avoiding the nebbiolo question.

Kelly loves bubbles. So bubbles were in plenty supply for her day. The CNdP was a mere distraction for us boys. And so as not to confuse those who do not know, my wife’s name is also Kelly.

(Did not know the term ‘hubby’ was male specific)

BTW Ken, nebbiolo season is on the wane. It will be waxing in Sept.

Wax on, wax off. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

I think you meant Waxhawn, Waxhawf.

both named kelly you call her hubby, she calls you hubby. It’s all confusing for the people around you ;p.

Do you at least have different last names??
If not, IRS must love you! (not)

Kelly - “hubby” is short and not-so-sweet for the male partner in a male/female married couple - “husband.” “Wifey” is the other side of all that - thanks for not calling your wife “wifey.”

How do you know she doesn’t call him that? [stirthepothal.gif] [snort.gif]

Mr. Teng, you are major trouble, aren’t you? [cheers.gif]

Yeah, this confused me too.

Of course, I’m easily confused.

I see Big Toe Fleming coming—I see him—he’s there in my rear view mirror

hubby/wifey/Kelly/Kelly. As long as THEY know who they are [grin.gif]

Love Infloresence. And I’m only beginning to like/appreciate Champagne.

Nice notes, Kelly, thx.
