Not that these are great deals or a magic reduction in price…just the fact that a once mailing list exclusive winery is partnered with D&D to sell through their inventory online.
Haven’t seen a Turley mailer in several years, so I don’t know what the release prices are/were. Just took me aback to get an email with all of these offerings since not too long ago you couldn’t find Turley very easily.
I believe they are priced slightly above winery release - maybe 10%. They even misspell “Turley”:
Turly Tofanelli Zinfandel 2007
If you head up Highway 29 towards Calistoga, you’ll come across Vince Tofanelli’s vineyard. This prime location for growing zinfandel and charbono is what winemaker Ehrn Jordan immediately noticed when seeking out the best vineyard partners for Turley. The '07 Tofanelli Zin offers lush brambly notes with spice on the finish.
Turly Tofanelli Zinfandel 2007 750.00 Milliliters USA
While these appear to be at retail/mailing list prices, it does show the softening of the wine market in general. In that once mostly mailing list brands are having to find or rely on outlets they did not have to rely on in the past.
I remember wine shops would quietly get a little Turley, not list it in their online inventory, and sell to some of their best customers without putting it on the shelf…
That being said, it is an honor to be in the Dean and Deluca Catalog. It reaches a pretty broad, well heeled and somewhat wine savvy customer base.
D&D in Napa has almost all the CA cab cult wines available. Harlan, screagle and scarecrow are the only ones missing. partnering with D&D is not such a bad thing.
Spec’s got a few Turley Zins in Houston last year from the winery…
Also, these prices are a little above mailing list but I’ve always thought Dean and Deluca was a little overpriced when I’ve been out there to the Napa store. It’s possible they just jacked up the price.
