Watching the run for the Scarecrow crowd got me thinking…
Me? None.
I have had (to my knowledge) 4 .
The closest was the 2004 Schrader CCS.
The furthest was the 2002 Shafer Hillside REALLY Nice wines, but not 100:
2007 Saxum James Berry
2005 Clos St Jean Deus Ex Machina
I know I have had others, I just don’t remember any rocking my world enough to note on.
I though the 02 SHS was pretty good, probably in the 97 range for me. Poker face, Atlantis and JFTLOI were all really good but more in the 95 range for my tastes.
Not sure if I’ve had a true 100 point experience yet.
The two most memorably great wines in my life have been:
1967 Lafite Rothschild Magnum in 1987. I think the occasion really amped it up (return from honeymoon dinner with family, so I was tan and relaxed), but it was awesome
2004 Bucccella Cabernet. Incredible.
I know, not technically hundred pointers in the world.
+1 I had this wine and it was monumental. I do not have enough experience with “100 pt” wines to make an assessment that this is in fact 100 pts. I will say it was one of the best bottles of wine I have ever had.
Hey Mike! I also loved the 2004 Buccella! I was introduced to it by the Som. at Bobby Flay’s Steakhouse at the Borgata. I also tasted Celani Family Vineyards Adore the same night (fantastic wine). Same winemaker (at the time), which is Mark Herold of Merus and Kobalt fame.
None of them. I have had 3 that were in my view perfect in my life. Probably 12-15 in the past few years that were not.
Those thatwere:
82 Mouton
89 HB
94 Harlan. The others were all good to great bottles.
