House hunting/offline in the OC

I locked in my job at Los Alamitos, CA today. I’ll be the Executive Officer for the 1/140th Aviation Battalion for the foreseeable future. I’m sure there’s an all expenses vacation to Iraq in there somewhere but I’ll talk about that later.

As for now, it looks like we will be moving down in October and I need to do a house hunting trip sometime in September. Is there a good time for the OC and LA crew to meet up in September? It can’t be all business while house hunting and I figured it would be a great time for a little offline action.

Congrats on the job and the move Philip!

I was thinking about calling for an OL sometime during Sept. at The Golden Truffle, in Costa Mesa. On Thursdays they have no corkage. Maybe some others in OC will see this and chime in on a day for this. When would be good for you?

Basically if you tell us when is best for you we will make the party. Been done before and can be done again. Maybe The Todd himself will host. We also have the other OC party pads like Dietz and FMIII as well. Oc will welcome you with open arms full of bottles.

What everyone said. Come on down, and we will find the excuse!! From Los Al, you will even be close to the Long Beach opportunities too. This is a very good time to be buying OC real estate. Got any ideas yet, or want some suggestions?

Free vacations are always good…you can look forward to some sun, sand, and that kiddie pool the privates made to stay cool in. Just watch out for any little metal objects sticking out of the sand as you walk along the “beach” [wink.gif]

I should fly into Orange County no? How are the hotels around the area? Hotwire has some great deals.

If you are renting a car then I would say fly into where ever you can find the cheapest flights. Long Beach is right next to Los Alamitos and LAX isn’t that far if you don’t land during rush hour. If you intend to stay in the Los Al area then I would recommend Seal Beach if you can get a deal or the South end of Long Beach. Anaheim is just down the freeway if you find a good deal near Disneyland.

I know,

I may have to actually work on Friday the 11th and I’d like to have 4 days house hunting. Maybe I can come down on Friday night and stay until Tuesday. I’ll check into it.

We can use my house for the event if you like, although it would seem that The Todd has already offered. I have been thinking about revisiting the Good-Bad-Ugly theme again, so that people can make space for incoming orders. if you all want to do that while Phillip is here, maybe we can do a couple events.

Phillip, PS…there are some things for sale down here in my tract/area, of course…if you like, I know a realtor that I play poker with who is pretty sharp. if that becomes part of your thinking, and South OC is something that you want to consider, look me up.
