I’d guess there’s plenty of seasoned travelers here. We have flights in and out of LAX but need to overnight both before our trip and when we get back due to timing of flights.
Looking for a clean basic place that has good shuttle service from the airport.

Westin La airport
Ditto on the Westin. I have slept there for 2-3 hours on more than one occasion. Shuttle is reliable.
Hyatt is closest, that’s where I stay (but rarely need to).
Do you have status with either Marriott (Westin) or Hyatt.
Hyatt Regency is solid and is as close as it gets imho
If you stay at the Westin, ask for a high floor on the front (Century Blvd) side of the hotel. There is a big dog kennel at ground level on the rear side; the dogs can get pretty noisy.
Personally, I prefer the Sheraton on that strip.
Anything hotel west of I405 on century Blvd will have shuttle service. Many provide airport parking.
Nothing really stands out, they’re “corporate” hotels for travelers, meetings, etc.
I have stayed at the Sheraton LAX a few times. Nice place. The bar is usually open late.
Wherever you stay, be mindful of any construction that could impede your path to/from the airport.
