asshole
Not Greek names. But what difference does it make ?
Not that it matters but since the question was posed, I happen to know a couple chaps named Emad who live in Silicon Valley and they are both Copts of Egyptian heritage.
The latest update is that he used a silenced .22 semi-auto pistol. This story gets darker at every turn.
Wow.
Had anybody ever heard of this guy before this??
The shooter I assume you mean? There have been a number of articles recently about all of the lies and subterfuge this guy had done. He committed insurance fraud among other things.
Obviously, you are clueless: surnames are not religions, and other religions still exist in the East.
What kind of name is Smyth, anyway?
This was very tragic reading about this. We are who are aficionados of wine assume the best of everything and everyone in the business and that is reinforced by the great people here on this board coming together as a community but everybody is human and some humans have a very dark side.
Murder-suicides usually reflect some kind of mental illness, which cuts across any business dispute.
As I posted in a similar thread in The Asylum, I represented someone last year suing Robert Dahl. He was a true scoundrel (even before the shooting). I’ll leave it at that. And it reinforces how happy I am that we settled the case.
…sort of like Mourvedre
For Nathan and the others. There are a number of wineries owned/operated by individuals who you would believe or are Muslim. There are an even larger number of Muslims who invest into money making operations without regard to religious beliefs. Money is money.
Anecdote: Had a group of people show up at our store to buy wine and cigars. For some reason, I asked one of them if they stopped at Darioush. He told me they were scheduled for a tasting there at 10 AM but their limo driver, (a Muslim), refused to take them there because it was owned by a Muslim and it was a sacrilege. He drove them to all the other wineries with no problem.
Did he take them anyplace that sold white/pink zinfandel? Thats the sacrilege !!!
Ignoring your incorrect usage of “begging the question,” there are plenty of Muslims who drink alcohol. No different than many Catholics ignoring the prohibitions against birth control and abortion, Jews eating non-kosher foods, etc. Or were you trying to make some other point?
to everyone attacking nathan, it is possible he was not going where you guys are insinuating, Maybe he was truly misinformed about the muslim culture, and therefore did not know any better. Or maybe he was just curious about the names. Sure, it was a strange question (considering the topic), but everyone here has placed ones foot in mouth at one time or another
I knew Dahl, he was a huckster supreme - heard this story on the road this week, my son texted me his picture asking “Wasn’t this the guy we met up with that wanted you to invest in his brewery?”
Very strange dude, he was a big talker, kind of forgot about him until this news - very sad -
And not all pious Muslims observe a strict ban on alcohol. Raki (like ouzo) is the national drink of Turkey.
