My “cellar” is less than 200 bottles, including my home produced stuff (about 60 btls worth so far), but wine is an all consuming passion/calling for me. I hate to drop $200 on fixing my 17 yr old junker of a car, but I didn’t hesitate to sling $500+ on taking my full (first) Rochioli allocation, but I just have to try it. I also easily spend more time reading/learning about wine without a glass in my hand, then I spend actually drinking the stuff and began studying wine well before I turned 21. It is a strange thing to ask your older brother to go pick you up a bottle of 98’ Montelena Cab instead of a sixer of Natty Light.
My wife and I both dream of dumping everything and moving to Sonoma (or somewhere near it, depending on budget), but the best we can do now is to volunteer to work as many tasting events as we can.
