For what it’s worth, I have the '00, and it sucks. I am not a reliable judge of PJA as a whole, and I know the 2000 was not supposed to be great, but I got a “great” deal on it back then, and I now feel like the hunted, instead of the hunter. I would do some checking before pulling the trigger…IF you were thinking about it that is.

I have NO idea how the '04 is rated or what people say…Imjusayin.

I had the '88 last night which was pretty good. Mike, this is not a good buy though. I think $100 for this is way over-priced.

Parker claims in his note on the Petite Chapelle for 2004 all the juice for La Chapelle was declassified and went into the Petite. What gives? [scratch.gif]

Agreed. Picked up 2 a few weeks ago for $53/each at a PLCB blow out. Unusually good price. Something in between would be more reasonable.

FWIW, I blew out the 1999 for $69 recently, and when a few people got shut out, because we sold out, I told some that they were better off as the 1999 is not good. IMO, 1998 is not good either.

I thought the 2001 was pretty good, although I haven’t had it since shortly after release.

Gérard died in 1997 and that is when quality went downhill. I like the 95 and 96, don’t have much experience of the 97, but the 98 and 99 are dull, dull, dull. The 98 Thalaberts is better than the 98 Chapelle, and the same can be said in 1999. I sold my 99s, bottles and magnums, but remain lumbered with the 98s.

I haven’t tasted more recent vintages, only 05 and 06 La Petite Chapelle, not La Chapelle per se. These wines are OK but the price isn’t warranted IMO.

The only La Petit Chapelle I’ve tried is the 2001, and it was pretty underwhelming with noticeable green character and a clipped finish.

I had the 04 and the 05 on release and thought that they showed some potential, but were priced a little high. I’ve had some older ones too and never had one that really spoke to me to be honest.
I will continue to try them whenever anyone wants to open one in my company though!
