I posted this first on ebob, but it got bumped to Social Hall in record time… not before Eric went from 5th place to 1st in current voting though…

Hey Berzerkers!,

Do you root for the underdog?

let’s try to help our Eric Levine beat Gary Vaynerchuk in Dr. Vino’s online poll “Which wine person most epitomizes the decade of the Naughties (2000-2009)?”

Yeah, there are others we could vote for, but I LOVE Cellartracker, so I nominate Eric for a combined Berzerker and ebob block vote. See, we can all get along.

Vote for Eric, it won’t take a second.

I’ve lurked here for a long time, is this my first post? wow, surely that will inspire some action on the voting front

I like Eric, but my vote is for Gary. Gary has revolutionized how consumers purchase wine and how they obtain knowledge.

Eric’s cellartracker is still affecting just a small segment of the wine drinking population. Gary has affected many more.

Some guys just don’t understand the concept of supporting an underdog.

Gary V will do just fine, without our help. He doesn’t need a Berzerker block vote.

Looking at that list, and without accounting for personal bias, how could anyone not vote for John Casella? Yellow Tail has influenced mass marketingn of wine. Gary V, RP and Eric all relate to smaller segments.

If that doesn’t epitomise the decade, what does?

(Though I expect that GaryVee will win it)
I still don’t understand why a wine seller would call his book “Cru Shit”.

why would i vote for some dude i don’t know/care about.
it’s like if I knew someone running for President… do i care the other guy might have more public office experience, and influenced the world and stopped world hunger? no. i still vote for the guy i know.

I think Gary is also a small niche, more the generation Y that he brings into wine… I saw for just bringing people in America to wine consumption Fred Franzia has done an excellent job with 2 buck chuck.

My point is that Cellartracker is a great tool, and has helped cellar management, much like MyWines. But Gary took on the world of wine with internet wine shopping, built an office building like wine store, and took to the internet with a show that he claims is watched by thousands (no one knows for sure the number though). He helped revolutionize an industry.

Eric’s best decade will be the next one, IMO.
