I am dying to get my hands on my allocation to open one of each and post some notes. I saw some over on ebob, but none here yet.
I didn’t get an offer…
I’ve had the Kanzler…I’m buying soon
I bought on Wed but don’t usually attack the UPS guy with a corkscrew so I will sit on mine for 6mo to a year.
I’ve got a bunch coming soon. I’m very much looking forward to them. Jamie claims that they are much more of a finesse wine this time around and all with lower alcohol levels as well. I don’t think any of them are over 13.8%.
Ed,
When I get my bottles, would you like to come over and try them with me?
Roy,
I tasted them after an evening of Barolo with Jamie in late October in SF:
Flight 5
[A surprise. Jamie brought samples of two of his yet unreleased 2007s.]
2007 Kutch Pinot Noir Kanzler Vyd.
Nose of grenadine and kirsch is stunning. I thought it was a mistake to taste these after all these terrific Barolos, but this is great stuff. The sweet fruit shows really well after all that tannin, but it sure doesn’t lack for complexity. Ringing finish. Great fruit. At least 93 points.
2007 Kutch Pinot Noir McDougall Vyd.
Dry spice and cherry in the nose. Sweet cherry in the mouth. The fruit is almost too intense in the superlong finish. Great stuff. Certainly Jamie’s best so far. 94 points.
Sounds great! Thanks!
Consider it done!
I’m also part of the “you don’t get any wine” postcard club.
Hey, I am in that club also! I am getting some from a generous Berserker who is sharing though.
