Have you ever intentionally stopped buying wine for a time?

My wife doesn’t know yet but we’ll move to Europe after retirement. I’m planning for northern Italy. But if she asks, I don’t know you and some fraudster is using my name on WB :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:!

OK! I met my goal of updating my CellarTracker inventory before my deadline. One day early! Includes everything I have on hand and spring shipments yet to arrive. The only ones not logged are the bottles I bought from Six Cloves on Berserker Day; I selected Omakase so won’t know what I’ll be getting until I open the box.

Also, unsubscribed from mailing lists and haven’t purchased anything since starting this thread.

So far so good!

I stop buying all the time. Some days I have other things to do. I mean, buying wine isn’t the focus of my life, so if I have a lot of work, or I feel like going for a bike ride, I don’t buy wine that day. Sometimes it lasts for a week or more, sometimes just a few days. I think it was a month one time but I’m not really sure.

Could be worse – you could live in Ontario…

Thanks, Patrick. I’ve been on the Six Cloves train for a few years now and have gotten to enjoy many of Sonoe’s wines. I really love them. So yes, I agree, I’m in for a treat!

Thanks for waiting for your shipment patiently @Noah_C ? I didn’t realize that you can’t enter my Omakase set yet
Your order will be shipped soon in April. Thanks again for your patience :folded_hands:

I am actively taking a pause right now.

My locker is full and shipping season has brought more deliveries than I want or know what to do with. Going through less wine than before because of work changes. A bit of a wake up call for me.

I wholeheartedly agree. My brother once gave me advice about buying clothes that I’ve since applied to almost everything, including wine: don’t buy something you merely like just because it seems like a good deal. Only buy what you truly love, even if the price feels high. You’ll rarely reach for the things you only sort of like, and you’ll get far more enjoyment and use out of the ones you love.

Back to the OP question; I’ve tried, but haven’t kept to the resolution for any significant length of time. Now I’m just trying to balance things, buying less but wines that excite me, while consuming more through sharing and donating.
