Haut Brion 1996 and Flannery Lamb

I have had both the 1989 and 1990 recently. The 1989 is deservedly one of Bordeaux’ legends and is fulfilling its early promise. It has been a 99-100 wine every time I have tasted it.

The 1990 from half bottle was a notch below. Lacked that tiny bit of concentration and finish, but it’s a relative bargain at a third of the price of the 1989, and a superb wine

The 1996 is half a notch back. Very Graves, lots of complexity. Again a great wine.

All these are Golden Age wines. Did not like 2009 and 2010 as much; seemed glossier, but 2019 seemed closer to the style I liked.
