Has anyone eaten Buffalo Wild Wings?

I, too, have eaten at BWW many times in my life — I’d estimate probably in the neighborhood of 50 to 100 times. I’ve never expected them to be technically fantastic, but I’ve always enjoyed them because I love some of their sauces. The wings are quite small, and prices certainly have seen significant increases over the years. I also like BWW for the fact that it’s an useful place to watch sports, and – as a parent of two young kids – I’ve always appreciated that it’s a kid-friendly place (so long as MMA or Boxing is not on the TVs).

Like you, Robert, many years ago my wife and I and a friend looked-in to opening an outpost in Los Angeles, which – once upon a time – didn’t have any locations in the county. Our thoughts on this idea were quickly dismissed when we discovered that a prospective franchisee must open not 1, not 2, but 3 locations at once! Needless to say, us three were pretty sure we wouldn’t be able to get a business loan large enough to do that (at the time, we ranged in age from 25 to 29). Say what you will about the food, but it certainly seems like they do good business, particularly the ones that – from a customer’s standpoint – appear to be well-run.

No reason why a business with meh food cannot survive.

Thank goodness.

That’s interesting Brian. I’d think It can’t be great for an owner learning the ropes to be spread between three franchises? I know at one point they were really trying to go hard and fast though, and I think they overdid it without enough oversight.

I wish we could have done it back then because the new ones opening at that time were swamped. It was a wing joint until after dinner and then a cool bar after. The cash they must have been counting!

Good point about the kid friendly aspect. Certainly wasn’t like that back at Ohio State, but it’s smart now. They are very bright these days which I don’t much like yet makes sense.

The wings can be in fact good, I mean how do you really screw up frying wings and shaking them in sauce. It’s the execution that is sometimes lacking. I find they are too often not hot out of the fryer or overcooked probably because some are just too small.

They haven’t started charging $12 for Heineken yet…so they aren’t insulting their customer.

I was in Florida years ago and needed a palce to watch a Jets game. The wings were worse that the Jets. I have not gone back. My son also went once to another outlet. He felt the same as I did. Neither of us would return.

You obviously haven’t been to date night at the BWW in New Roc City!

cute young things?

No, not really. There needs to be a sarcasm emoji! The best thing that could happen to New Roc City is an earthquake, fire, flood, or other natural disaster. It isn’t as pedestrian unfriendly as downtown White Plains, but it ain’t pretty.

So i walk into the house the other day and this was on the counter. Was a gift (regift?) for my daughter. I don’t think she has ever been there. I didn’t think they were still in business-the one near me is not good.

They have a few locations here in NYC. They’re not bad, but also, not good either. It’s low quality chicken. They are better priced than most other places, but still expensive IMHO. I miss the days when you could get 2 dozen delicious wings for just $20 bucks in NYC, but those days are long gone. Nowadays, I buy wings on my own at the grocery store and turn them into Korean Gochujang Chicken Wings which are ridiculously good! Highly recommended to make your own wings!

I have once or maybe twice, and it was totally unmemorable. I wasn’t going in expecting to be served a 5-star meal, either. The main driver was seeking a TV for sports viewing in a city with which I was unfamiliar.

Is anyone else hoping to hear from the OP about the motivation for such an open-ended, vague post?

Obviously I know it is a chain. So mass produced.

Just wondering where it fit on the scale. Truly just trying to decide whether to eat there or not. I having been working away from home more and can’t find anything good to eat, I don’t think BBW would be either, just trying to gauge the measure of pain it would be.

lots of TV for sports.
decent generic beers
decent wings
meh other food

but- lots of TV for sports

i think on work trips in semi-remote locations it’s totally fine.
if u’re working down town manhattan you can probably find better options.

If there’s a game on that you are interested in its worth a shot. It’s a fine bright place to watch sports if you prefer not go to a local usually dim bar in an unfamiliar area. The food is going to be a crapshoot, so I wouldn’t ever go there unless there’s something on the tv you want to hang out and watch at your pace.

The fried pickles app. is tasty.

My best friend from high school and I used to eat at buffalo wild wings at least once a week when we moved back to my boring small home town to run my grandfather’s cherry farm.

We used to call it really expensive food poisoning but for some masochistic reason we would keep going back. Spending over $50 a person minimum to eat hormone induced massive wings and drink tall mass produced IPA’s.

If you’re young and stupid, there may be nothing better. Getting a little older though, I fear the place.

My noodle shop can do that to you for less. But cash only.

Wonder why this chain didn’t get off the ground.
