I had a ‘21 Turley White Zin the other night that was pretty amazing. Amazingly.
Larry who has time to whet their whistle when we are on the phone with our credit card companies requesting limit increases?
Love it - and watch for a few MC specials ![]()
My wife and I are almost finished with case #3 of the Claire Hill Loomis Chardonnay. I hope she’s participating again this year. It’s our house white (along with Domaine Thibert Macon-Verzé, which it’s like a slightly more tropical cousin of). We also polished off a lot of her syrah but I buried some to see how they age.

Something something a little bird told me…
2023 Championship Bottle Hard Promises Pinot Blanc
Citrus, prickly pear, minerals and fresh sea air. This is a very lively and delicious wine! Great wines and very fair prices for the quality. (93 pts)
I hope to see them in this upcoming Berserker day!
Thanks for your note, Corey.
The ones I’ve had in the past month or two have all been good - mostly Terceros (2016 Mourvèdre, 2018 Carignane, 2022 Malvasia Bianca, 2023 Picpoul Blanc) but there’s also been a 2019 Beau Rivage Chenin Blanc, a 2017 Our Wines Pinot, and a Croma Vera red or two.
I have a few others in the “drinking soon” cabinet, including two Sabelli-Frisch reds, a Lagier Meredith, and another Our Wines pinot. It’s not BerserkerDay yet, so we’ll probably get to at least one more.
You better believe it! And there might be a little more of the ‘23 Hard Promises available
(It’s drinking great right now).
Glen, I love that I’m your house white! Sadly, I have only 20 cases of Lolonis Chardonnay 2024 to sell this year (it would be slightly more, but my husband has forbidden me from selling it because he wants it to be his house white too!)
My wife says you two are welcome to come to Silver Lake and share some of ours. Oh, she just added, “Maybe.” ![]()
Saw that the 2021 Sun Break Marie Paule Reserve is available for BerserkerDay so figured I’d post this from a group blind tasting a couple months back.
Tasted these three 21’s blind along with a 21 Y. Clerget Volnay not pictured. The Sun Break and Patricia Green both outperformed the Volnay and were close to each other in quality, with the Sun Break coming off as more elegant and the PG as more powerful. The Mugneret Gibourg was unsurprisingly the favorite but the two Oregon wines fared quite well and did not seem out of place next to the M-G.
I’m posting these in hopes that they might hope someone who is looking to try new wines on BerserkerDay. Unfortunately, the polar vortex means I didn’t make it to my offsite storage, so I couldn’t pull wines from Six Cloves and Patricia Green (and another Goodfellow) that I had lined up in my head. The below notes are what I had at home. No scoring because I’m increasingly not interested in doing so, but these were all solid selections and you cannot go wrong with any of these producers (I’ve consumed numerous bottles from each).
- 2024 Briceland Vineyards Chardonnay No Oak Ronda's Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast (1/29/2026)
Quite pale yellow, befitting of its age. Aromas of yellow citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit) and white flowers. Yellow citrus is the predominant flavor on the palate, with a splash of lime and floral notes. Good acidity, with a lightly rounded mouthfeel. Was a bit disjointed on pop and pour but with an overnight decant, this has blossomed into a delicious, food friendly wine. - NV Briceland Vineyards Rosé of Pinot - USA, California, North Coast, Humboldt County (1/28/2026)
Salmon colored. Red berries and citrus on the nose. The palate largely follows, with flavors of underripe strawberries, raspberries and citrus (lemon/blood orange/grapefruit). Brittany called out floral notes, which are there with searching. Light+ body with high- acidity and a clean finish. Bone dry. High yum factor.
My initial impression was a Provençal rose, which I might have called blind. Food friendly, this paired surprisingly well with homemade pho. A blend of 2024 and 2025 wines. - NV Goodfellow Family Cellars Extra Brut - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (1/27/2026)
Lemon/lemon oil is predominant on the palate with just a hint of red apple skin. There's plenty of acidity accenting a lithe body that fleshed out just a bit with some air time. Gulpable now, but should improve with additional time in bottle (like literally every other wine that Marcus has produced). Great stuff. - 2019 Championship Bottle Chardonnay Gravity's Pull Dion Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Chehalem Mountains (1/24/2026)
Lemon and yellow apple on the nose and palate. There's a pleasant creaminess to the wine, but the palate gets woken up by the electric acidity. In a nice place, but no rush to drink. - 2022 Championship Bottle You + Me + The Moon - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (1/22/2026)
Yellow citrus and yellow apple on the nose. Flavors of lemon, green apple and a hint of nectarine with a pleasant minerality. Medium+ body that is slightly oily and bright acidity. Fresh and lively. Would pair great with most salads and white fleshed fish.
I popped a 2022 Vincent Tardive Chardonnay today before diving into all the offers and it was delicious. nice reductive nose and just a nice well made chard. I always worry about ordering blind based on board hype but these delivered at the price point. No regrets on this or the 2023 purchase!!! dive on in!
With BD17 having just concluded, I celebrated by opening a 2023 Goodfellow Berserker Cuvée Chardonnay. It took some time to open up. Once open, it was a subtle blend of matchstick, lemon curd, minerality with medium plus acidity. Very enjoyable!
Enjoyed a 2023 Sabelli-Frisch Zinfandel Anchia Stampede Vineyard tonight from VinDependence day. Fresh and spiced. Missed the BD17 deal myself but those who grabbed it are in for a treat.
The Goodfellow 23 Berserker Cuvee Pinot is in a really great place right now too!
Pobega’d a Just Pink Rosé tonight. I bought my wife a case and I’m not sure what she loves more. The wine, the label wording or the heart stamp on the cork. Thanks @Anne_Fogerty!
Perlegos Assyrtiko just turned up via UPS, stuck that sucker in the freezer for about an hour (we don’t let good wine rest here
) and I’m now enjoying it with an upcoming Carbonara! Delicious wine!
Looking forward to more Assyrtiko!
