Has Anyone Been Drinking BerserkerDay Wines Lately?

Had the 2020 Arabilis Columbia Gorge Chardonnay over the weekend and, as the kids say, it slapped. No formal notes because we were sharing with others, but what struck me most was the exquisite balance. Just a gorgeous bottle of wine that should get even better with time.

Drinking a 2016 Suzor The Tower. Mellow red fruit transitions into an earthy tea on the finish.

Its a nice wine, but the tea is a no for me if I dont have food to offset it. Looking forward to opening my other bottle of Menefee in a few years - its been one of my favorite WV pinots of the last couple years.

Edit: the tea has mellowed significantly over the last hour, but still there. At the point where Im enjoying it more.

2017 Sandler Wine Company Pinot Noir Wine Berserkers 10th Anniversary Cuvée - Haven’t opened one of these for almost three years. Super wine from @Ed_Kurtzman Red fruit jumps out of the glass but this also has depth and some interesting tannins on the backend. Not real good at judging how long Pinot can age but I originally had a 2025 end date which I think may be conservative. This is a wine that was loved by wine geeks and non-wine geeks at the table.

Steve, you’re likely right in the sweet spot, drinking that 2017 pinot in 2023. I most recently broke into my new BD purchase, a 2019 Sabelli - Frisch Tinta Cao that came in his mix pack. It has some power but was lovely over the weekend as a glass for sipping pre-dinner, all the way through to dessert. Worth the exploratory tasting, for sure.

I really like how you described the Pinot. Samesies for the 2016 Ladd Chardonnay that I had last week.

It’s official - Ladd is definitely on my list for BD next year.

Had a 2018 Six Cloves Linda Vista Chardonnay the other night and it was nicely perfumed, lithe, and balanced.

2011 Virage. Cab Franc dominant right bank blend.

PNP. Beautiful bottle. Expressive nose and palate of rich cherry, black cherry, blackberry and plum. The vinous version of biting into chocolate covered raspberries. Ripe fruit, but fresh acidity and only 13.8% ABV make this perfectly balanced. Fully integrated tannins leave a silky mouthfeel on a very long finish. Bravo!

Oh yes. Finishing a bottle of 2019 Bougetz Jetrois. It’s a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Merlot, dark red fruit and a little peppery spice, so smooth and gorgeous I can’t wait to have it again.

I opened the 2015 Jean Edwards Stagecoach vineyard last night on a lark since I was grilling steak. On the nose it was undoubtedly Napa, but not in the typical bombastic everything is turned up to 11 kind of way. Very nice acidity, smooth, integrated tannins plenty of red fruit and some herbal note I couldn’t quite identify, perhaps dill or sage. Texturally, it felt a little thin, certainly not chewy like I expected. There was a good amount of sediment in my bottle, though it was not problematic in the least. I still have half a bottle left, so I am looking forward to seeing how it tastes on day 2.

Tom makes some serious wines that are delicious and a good value, and they don’t get the props that they deserve…I have bought some from the last 3 or 4 BerserkerDays and all of them have been enjoyable…

I opened this two weeks ago!!

2015 Chiron Unfamiliar Truth Grenache- Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley, CA

This is f’ing amazing wine!! Ordered 3 bottles on BD and got the shipment two days ago. Since this is a new producer to me and I love Grenache, I had to try one. This is the best Grenache I’ve had from California! Aromas of fresh strawberries, red licorice, blood orange, sage, and rosemary leads the way to a palate that’s fresh and intense with great energy. Tastes of strawberries, lemon peel, and white pepper continue on the finish for well over a minute! Bobby Moy @chironwines is doing amazing things with this grape.

Great to know! I tried his other brand (Brevity) with some very nice Pinot noir. Anything sourced from Mr. Veeder, I’ll try!

Yes, I’ve noted that fizz in the 2 bottles I’ve drunk. Probably not intended but does not detract. As you said, a nice zip to it
