Happy Hour in Miami: Krug MV + 1988 Borgogno Barolo Riserva

Miami is terrible pricing for wine. One of th worst anywhere.

But the happy hour (630-730) at Dutch for Krug MV is awesome. $25 for generous pour. Basically retail pricing. Oysters are $1.50 each and that includes Kushi.

Krug MV was outstanding. Wonder brioche nose. Plenty of fruit and wonderful focus. Just so supple and delicious.

Also on the list was a 1988 Borgogno Barolo Riserva for $65 for a 5oz pour.

Served via coravin so I don’t know if it was red or black capsule.

Beautiful bricked color. The nose was classic with notes of shoe polish, dried rose petals, earth, leather, a touch of herbs, orange peel, and red fruits. Palate was resolved with some residual sweet fruit but the tannins and structure seem to be outlasting the fruit as this stage. Impressive wine by the glass and even more so since it was on South Beach.

Possibly at its peak now.
