Gustavo chardonnay?

At a group dinner last night, I brought the quite roasted but not hot Laurent 2003 Bonnes Mares VV. A fellow diner gave me the last of a bottle of the Gustavo Oak Knoll chard and I expected a Knoll full of Oak. Not at all, rich yet minerally with a good grownup finish. Reminded me of no other Chardonnay, New or Old World. Maybe a 1980’s Les Pierres from Sonoma Cutrer with some age on it.

Anyone have an opinion or info?
