Guerneville Suggestions

Going to be staying with some friends this weekend and have done quite a few winereies around there in the past, but does anyone have a shout with favorite producers? Trying to stay within a radius of 20-30 minutes. Thanks!

Recently I’ve been to Paul Matthew, Porter Creek and Hartford and can recommend them all. They are all very different. Paul Matthew and Porter Creek are small and you’ll chat with the assistant winemaker or someone like that. Porter Creek’s tasting room is literally in a shack, but very comfey. Hartford is more grand. Good wines from all 3. Merry Edwards is very good too.

I very highly recommend Joseph Swan, which is also small and run by assistant winemakers. Also Gary Farrell, which is big and fancy and not the kind of place I want to recommend, but the setting is stunning and the wines are wonderful.

A little further afield, but I’m a big fan of Ridge. About 30 minutes away.

A nice walk in the redwoods or some whale watching are also great things to do while you’re there.

Copain’s not far away.

Porter Creek is interesting and cozy.

FIFY!

Wine aside, Armstrong Redwood park is worth a visit IMHO.

+1 on that.

Awesome patio scene.
