Tonight’s light supper was a half a jowl of Guanciale browned in a pan with Rao’s Sicilian Eggplant Sauce added after browning. Then after browning, the eggplant sauce was enhanced by a large sprinkling of granulated garlic. Wine was a 1996 Lambert Family Howell Mountain Zinfandel - fill a quarter inch below the capsule, cork barely touched; good dark berry fruit, little light tannins, barely adequate acidity; with a medium berry fruit finish.
Then for dessert, we had 2004 Susana Balbo Late-Harvest Malbec with our usual TJ’s Chocolate bars, milk for Carollee and 72% Cocoa Dark Chocolate for me. It made an enjoyable finish to a nice meal.
