Green Chile Chicken Soup with Margaritas

Tonight ‘light’ supper was hot Chimayo green chile chicken soup. As I started the soup, the chiles were sufficinitely hot to cause us to choose Margaritas over a good wine. We started with the end of our last bottle of Don Jesus Reposado, making the long gone ‘Don Jesus’. Then with our second bowl of soup, we had the end of a bottle of Milagro Select Barrel Reposado to have ‘Miracle Miles’. We had the Margaritas in the correct order. They were both good with the spicy soup. The soup was chicken, carrots, celery, rich organic chicken broth, garlic, and onion; with the added four hot Chimayo green chiles. The heat reached my temples and mid-forehead, but didn’t progress further. The Margaritas and soup were an enjoyable combination.

Then we finished with a TJ’s chocolate bars and another 2006 Susana Balbo Late-Harvest Malbec. The chocolate and malbec made a good finish to the evening.

I’m a sucker for any title starting with Green Chile…sometimes I really miss NM and you just made me homesick. Sounds like a great soup.

Steve-

When and where were were you in New Mexico?

With an average of 300 days a year of sunshine, no extreme temperatures, and nice four seasons weather (except for maybe the strong winds in Springtime), Santa Fe is a great place to live. We very much enjoy it.

The soup was nice & hot and quite good, especially with the Margaritas.

I lived in Shiprock for 3 years from 1986-89. Those we’re the days…I still miss it.

Those were the years leading up to our buying our home here in 1989. We’d come for a week to ten days every summer for the Chamber Music concerts and for the Opera.
