I wouldn’t find any relevance to the coincident, so it wouldn’t concern me in the least. There are wines I have no interest in buying or tasting, no matter how good they are, on ethical grounds. There are so many great wines out there, so I don’t find a dilemma avoiding some. I’m not sentimental about arbitrary things or otherwise superstitious.
Interesting responses - thanks for weighing in everyone! Liked reading all your different persepectives.

I was born in 1959, thereby a bad year for the world.

Me too.
I have been pretty lucky. My only really bad years have been 1993 and 2004 (when my parents died). I never thought about not buying wines from those years although in retrospect it would have been good to have had any excuse NOT to buy 2004 Burgundies.
