great vintage available but bad year for you

I wouldn’t find any relevance to the coincident, so it wouldn’t concern me in the least. There are wines I have no interest in buying or tasting, no matter how good they are, on ethical grounds. There are so many great wines out there, so I don’t find a dilemma avoiding some. I’m not sentimental about arbitrary things or otherwise superstitious.

This question kind of surprised me because It really doesn’t occur to me to think about what I was doing in 2008 just because I’m drinking a 2008 wine. I guess I kind of get the birthyear/marriage year thing, but I just dont take the vintage date past what was happening in the vineyard that year.

+1. Don’t remember what I had for lunch, let alone what happened in, say, 2007.

I am this way, as well. ADD can be therapeutic.

Me too.

I have been pretty lucky. My only really bad years have been 1993 and 2004 (when my parents died). I never thought about not buying wines from those years although in retrospect it would have been good to have had any excuse NOT to buy 2004 Burgundies.
