Had a great lunch with Bernard Repolt, Cecile Montout, and Susan my SO, at Maison Remoissenet a few weeks ago. I have known Bernie for more than a few years and he is a special wine person with his incredible knowledge and experience acquired through his many years in the wine business in Burgundy. His approach to food and wine and towards life are so refreshing and fun, reminding me of all the laughs I have shared with him and ice cold wines tasted deep in the cellars then warmed and drank wherever he was employed over the years.
I have touted the return to prominence of Remoissenet to the very top tier of Negoce and this would have likely occurred already, if not for severe shortages of wine the past few years.
Hoping for a string of large crops for all my Burgundy friends.
We drank a 1989 Hospices de Beaune Meursault Genevrieres and 1966 Volnay Fremiets. Both wines were brilliant and beyond transcendent and so good, that we carried the leftovers back to Paris on the TGV and drank them 2 nights later after a detour to Lameloise this night for dinner.
It was great to be back in burgundy for several days and to see lots of my friends and let Susan experience burgundy through my eyes.
I posted today a photo of 76 Corton Charlemagne Diamond Jubilee Remoissenet on FB- Burgundy Geeks - Both 76 CC’s we drank were breathtaking at lunch yesterday in NYC at the always great Grammercy Tavern.
Glad to still be able to partake in this passion of mine.
Time to leave to go fly fishing-…
Check out Remoissenet wines as they are exciting and exacting wines that should have a place in everyone’s cellar.

Glad the hear about the Diamond Jubilee CC. I remember selling these and was wondering how/if the were holding up
What is the reputation of the Remoissenet wines from the late 90’s and early 2000’s? I have seen a couple at reasonable prices for the appellations, but don’t have any experience with this negoc. Thanks.
I agree, Chet, that Bernie is a remarkable and knowledgeable ambassador for the wines of Burgundy. I first met Bernie about 25 years ago, when he visited Edmonton. More recently I visited Remoissenet and we were met by Bernie ( at the time I wasn’t aware that he was with Remoissenet ), who pulled my old business card, given to him on our initial meeting, from a Rolodex on his desk. His memory bank is inexhaustible so it would seem. He was a great host during our visit to Remoissenet and came up with a 1967 Chambolle-Musigny, which was the birth year of my associate. Bernie couldn’t come up with a bottle for my birth year that day, but Lorraine and I, and Wade, our birth year traveler, enjoyed the wine that evening at Castel de Trois Girard in Morey-Saint-Denis.

Really nice story. I’m often reminded of and replay in my head amazing experiences I have had in Burgundy by reading other’s posts about many producers or their tasting notes. I have always felt a part of my soul was reborn, rejuvenated and reinvested when I walked off the train in Beaune in 1982, and Phillipe Bouchard and Charles Heidseick were there waiting for me and we visited all their friends cellars ( a who’s who ) in Philippe’s Citroen, and then to all the proper restaurants. What a time it was!!!
It was as if I always belonged in Burgundy and hence began my lifetime affection for all things Côte D’or.

Thanks for the notes Chet.
Nummy stuff! They were our favorites of our trip to Burgundy last fall. ![[flirtysmile.gif] flirtysmile](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/c/ce2642e7caade9035e3a3b13c8b8d2b3ddb2b4c9.gif)
Nice Chet. Thanks for the heads up on Remoissenet.
