Great Burg Tasting via Robert's John Akeley!

Recently, John Akeley from Roberts Woodside Market held a fine Burg tasting at the Parkside Grill.

1)2007 Batard Montrachet (Dom Marc Jomain) - $125
Light yellow. Rich spicy tropical fruit, marshmallow nose.
Tight citric fruit with a long finish. This is really young and undeveloped, but promising. [90+ pts]
2)2007 Chassagne Montrachet VV (Dom Fontaine-Gagnard) - $40
Light yellow. Fine lemony nose.
Firm, crisp minerally fruit. Great structure. Quite young. [89 pts]
3)2007 Chassagne Montrachet “Clos des Murees” (Dom Fontaine-Gagnard) - $56
Very light yellow. Fine tropical fruit nose.
Firm, very structured, oily, stony fruit. Really nice. [92 pts]

4)2007 Chassagne Montrachet “Les Caillerets” (Dom Fontaine-Gagnard) - $62
Very light yellow. Reticent grapefruit nose.
Firm, closed, somewhat diluted fruit.
Young, but nothing special here. [89+ pts]
5)2007 Batard Montrachet (Dom Fontaine-Gagnard) - $150
Light yellow.Rich nose of white flowers and sandlewood.
Pure, luscious round fruit entry leads to a long, lipsmackin’ finish.
Although young, the quality is evident. A beauty! [95 pts]
6)2007 Volnay “Clos des Chenes” (Dom Fontaine-Gagnard) - $52
Medium red. Effusive, complex nose of red fruits, violets and forest floor.
Structured, extra minerally Volnay fruit in all it’s glory!
My favorite Pinot of the evening! I bought me some. [94 pts]

7)2007 Santenay “Clos Rousseau” (Dom Bachey-Legros) - $30
Medium red. Ripe, high toned , cherry nose.
Firm, clean spicy black fruits with a licorice aftertaste.
Quite nice a an excellent QPR. [89 pts]

8)2007 Chambolle-Musigny “Les Bussieres” (Dom Oliver Jouan) - $40
Medium red. Ripe red berry nose with a touch of caramel.
Firm cherry pit fruit. Simple bit nice. [87+ pts]
9)2007 Morey St Denis “Les Ruchots” (Dom Oliver Jouan) - $44
Medium red. Somewhat over-ripe darker fruited nose.
Rich, black fruits with a firm finish. [87 pts]
10)2007 Morey St Denis “La Riotte” (Dom Oliver Jouan) - $48
Medium red. Fine bing cherry nose.
A dry, rather simple fruited wine. [86 pts]
11)2007 Charmes Chambertin (Dom Oliver Jouan) - $70
Medium red. Rich red fruits nose.
Firm, spicy blue/black fruit profile. Very young with promise. [89+ pts]

Fine etched minerally red fruits with a tannic finish.

Medium red. Reticent spicy nose.
Tasty, elegant brambly Gevrey fruit. Quite young. [90 pts]

Medium red. Reticent strawberry nose.
Rich, very elegant stony fruit with a long finish.
Young, but the quality is evident. [91 pts]

Medium red. Restrained, round spicy pinot nose.
Rich, deep fruit with a long finish. Great quality here! [94 pts]

Medium red. Fine spicy nose.
Tannic darker fruited wine. Very young and undeveloped. [88+ pts]

19)2007 Pommard “Rugiens” (Joseph Voillot) - $72
Light-medium red. Ripe, powerful nose.
Lean, somewhat stemmy fruit. Really needs time. [87+ pts]

20)2006 Volnay “Taillepieds” (Montille) - $85
Medium red. Ripe pinot nose with a touch ‘o funk.
Luscious, rich lipsmakin’floral fruit in perfect balance.
I got me some! [93 pts]

Medium red. Sweet cherry liquore nose.
Fine, lush red berry fruit with a long finish.
A beauty and a fine QPR! I got me some! [91+ pts]
