Grassl Glassware

My BD order arrived today.
Wow Chris, lots of spare time on your hand? champagne.gif

Great service as always, and I love the stems.

wow that was quick.

Based on this thread alone, I bought a lot of Grassl stems and a lot of Goodfellow wine.

Ordered 2 1855 and 2 Cru, got 1 1855 and 3 Cru. Wrong glass in one of the tubes.

Having read the rest of the thread, it seems pretty clear Chris will fix it if you communicate directly with him about it.

Will do!

You are absolutely right. Chris got back to me almost immediately. What incredible customer service! And, the glasses are excellent as well. Will be adding more in the near future!

Anyone have tips for how best to clean these, particularly the 1855 given how delicate it seems? Can’t seem to find a good position for placing it in the dishwasher and would like to give it a wash before use.

Brian, I have washed the 1855 in the dishwasher without incident many times.

I have the same problem with the dishwasher. It just doesn’t seem to fit so I hand wash. The size of the top of the bowl makes it hard.

I use the bottom rack.

Ordered some tasting stems for durability since we like to break lots of glases in our house.

I have washed it as well in the dishwasher – both top rack and bottom rack. I just try to make sure that it is not near anything else that it can hit against.

I used to hand wash everything, but as others have noted, hand washing has historically led to more breakage than dishwashers these days. One idea is to run a load only with the glassware – I have done that before.

I would also say, given Marcus’ replacement policy, worst case scenario you are out $10 and some time waiting for the new glass! But seriously, I have never had something break in the dishwasher in the last 3-4 years that I have started doing this.

I broke a few times hand washing. Never broke anything in the dish washer in the past 5 years.

Got my BD Grassl glasses today. So listen. I work for NASA. This is clearly alien technology. Picked up the 1885 and it was defying gravity. Anti-matter? Pretty sure

Dishwasher. Please. I agree the angles of the bowls can make cleaning with hands frightening. When the first factory glasses landed at my house I opened a Cru, washed it, and promptly broke a bowl in my hand. We have since added a touch more glass to help but there is an angle to them that can be delicate.

I use my bottom rack. I don’t use the flapping arm that has stem slots. I actually remove my utensil rack and simply stick the bowls over 2 tines and let them rest at an angle. I can get about a dozen in the bottom.

I don’t let them touch one another and you should slowly test if you are exposing anything to the top spinning water dispenser.

I use Cascade platinum. China wash setting. And in about 30 minutes they are all set.

Alex and I have been working on a bottle brush that looks like a fuzzy fork. One tong would be in the bowl, the other outside the bowl to help with lip smears without adding too much pressure to the edge of the glass.

But we need to get the champagne and water glass for the restaurants wrapped up first.

I’d hoped to release a travel bag but we blew the design and it won’t hold 4 of the largest stems at once so we need to get them remade. But they are designed to be a box you can actually send the glasses in the mail and they would be safe as the bag has hardened inside the walls

Chris,
Do the travel bags hold Liberte glasses? If so, I’d like to buy a couple (in heartbeat).

Chip-the Anti-matter made me smile

Been a long week. My poor admin who normally runs the business while I work my other career tore a tendon in her foot. It’s been all me most nights. The people
Of the board were very generous and supportive. I had 400 orders.

My hands are covered with kraft tape glue each night.

It’s been a labor of love though.

And Keith, I packed and labeled your replacement tonight. She will ship tomorrow sir.

Mark. Yes. They hold 4 Liberté and Mineralité perfectly well.

I even designed master bags for them so you have a sleeve that allows you to bundle 2 or 4 as a group.

Excellent. How do I go about buying them?
