Please tell me if I am wrong or of this is not the wackiest of transactions ever!
On 12/10 I placed an order with GrandVinWineMerchants
Order was for 2x 2011 Fonseca, 1x 2011 Grahams, 1x 2011 Taylor and 1x 2011 Warres (5 bottles total)
On 12/17 (week later they did not ship or process order but whatever fine with that) Got an email saying we may have shipped you the wrong wines.
On 12/23 I received the wine 4x Fonseca, 1x Grahams and 1x Taylor (6 bottle total no Warres)
I asked GrandVinWineMerchants to add up cost of shipping me warres, cost of shipping them the 2 fonsecas and the cost of the bottle of warres and deduct that from cost of the two fonsecas to save them all the shipping and I would keep the extra fonsecas I did not order. They run the math but charged my credit card the amount of the 2 fonsecas minus the 1 Warres. They thanked me for saving them the shipping but didn’t feel like they had to pass the savings along to me. Furthermore they mentioned I saved on the initial shipping since I paid to ship 5 bottles not 6 bottles.
They will now be shipping me my warres. They will have to figure out how to package and ship the two bottles of fonseca which I will be leaving on my front porch for them to deal with as I feel I bent over backwards for their mistakes and they really treated me poorly.
Although they had competivie prices, there shipping and customer services makes them go on my blacklist. Buyer beware with GrandVinWineMerchants ladies and gentleman.
So you will have 2 bottles of Fonseca sitting unpackaged on your porch? What is your address and when will you put them out?
Happy New Year!
Just my thought, no reason to follow!
Looks like the way you pitched the ‘make good’ is a little complicated. Bunch of moving parts, make up for shipping, etc.
I’d have pitched a simpler process.
- Have Grand Vin give you 1 bottle of the Fonseca for the cost of the Warres
- You pay Grand Vin the $82 for the other bottle of Fonseca
- And you’re done
So forget the other bottle of Warres, the shipping both ways, etc.
A little overreaction, don’t you think?
I am always suspicious of threads which are meant to hurt a merchant. Sounds like they screwed up, but it is fixable, and you need to communicate before beginning a thread which is this incendiary. I would imagine that next week might be a little easier to get this resolved after the holiday rush.
This sentence sounds almost spiteful… "They will have to figure out how to package and ship the two bottles of fonseca which I will be leaving on my front porch for them to deal with…"
I hope you live in an area where the temperature is well above freezing, otherwise you could be be responsible for any damage to the wine, especially given your original post.
If that’s your wackiest transaction, you haven’t been buying enough. I’d have told them I’ll keep the wines shipped, and if I still wanted the Warres to buy that too.
Have had multiple transactions with Grand vin, top notch!. Then again I am local and have only picked up.
Another satisfied customer of GVWM with multiple shipments to Colorado. Just my $0.02
Okay, you are wrong. Mark is right.
Next time ask for the bottles you ordered and a return shipping label for the ones you didn’t.
Ive also done multiple large transactions with this merchant with zero problems and great results
I agree with Mark and Peter.
My few transactions with them have been positive.
Interestingly, once they shipped me a bunch of Yquem by accident.
I made sure they got it back.
Other than that, they seem to be very good.
Buyer beware? seriously?
I agree with Mark.
One, you are wrong. Two, you’re being kind of a jerk about it. Three, you need to get out more. And four, if that’s the worst thing that happened to you last year, you are very fortunate, and may I suggest you volunteer for an afternoon anywhere (hospital, shelter, etc) to gain perspective.
David
I don’t think leaving two bottles on your front porch, not packed, thinking someone will pick them up will work to your advantage.
It sounds like you already paid for the missing bottle and its shipping. Perhaps have them ship it in a two bottle shipper and then you place two bottles in it for return shipment.
Remove the complications and it will be fixed. It was a mistake and will be fixed.
Love Grand Vin, Andrea is great and runs a tight ship. Lots of success in them helping me find large formats directly from Europe.
+1. (especially shipping–very quick and relatively low.)
Pretty sure this is the craziest part of the transaction…
And that you find it appropriate to flame someone’s business in this manner.
I purchase from GVWM quite often and have never had an issue. A+ customer service.
I’ve had nothing but positive transactions with this merchant. Agree with above.
Same here. Grabbed 2012 Faiveley Amoureuses on pre-arrival. It arrived within the estimated time and they shipped without any problems when it arrived. I’d buy from them again.
