saw this on twitter earlier. Not sure what to make of this. Never been to any of his restaurants, but his countless hours on TV will forever keep his restaurants packed, more than Michelin ever could, IMHO.
Agreed…gotta be difficult to manage multiple restaurants while doing multiple TV shows, etc…
Amidst that news, the far more exciting for me personally was dining at the Ledbury for lunch (and going back for dinner with wife tonight) on the day that the chef earned his second star–and the owner was at the table at the same time. It was a great moment to see a Mag of 1996 Dom Rose come forth to celebrate. Phil Wilkins snapped some lovely shots of a rather amazing ‘lunch’ here: http://www.wine-pages.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=023807" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Yep. I stay awake at most meals now.
And here is the man Brett Graham who just earned his second star at The Ledbury and his first star at The Harwood Arms (a pub apparently). I don’t know that you would call it a passing of the reins, but this is clearly a huge, rising star in the UK: (And that is 1996 Dom Perignon Rose in the glass, from magnum)
Kudos to Phil Wilkins for some amazing photographs.
I’m a bit confused and I went to the Michelin list… the Royal Hospital Road restaurant is still the flagship, no? That was the three-star. I couldn’t find it - maybe just overlooked it. Is it still three? Had one of the great meals of my life there (before GR was a household name in the States) and have wondered if it is still top-notch, given how thin the man is spreading himself.
He loses a star for holding his glass wrong
Yes, still three stars.
