Hi, Folks. I’ve read other threads and most of the golf talk is about Maui and Kaua’i. The discissions for golf near(ish) Kona was limited. Where would you play a round if there was only going to be one round? I’m taking my 16-year-old son too who is a very good golfer, so a challenge if just fine. We’re staying in Kona.
Hualalai at the Four Seasons is fantastic. Played two rounds there last month.

Kailua Kona? 45 mins drive to Mauna Kea.

Thumbs up to Hualalai, but may be tough to get on if you aren’t staying there. I’d pass on the Mauna Lani courses. They are nice and well maintained with a few holes that have beautiful views, but otherwise kind of pedestrian layouts. That’s the extent of my Big Island golf. Would love to play Kukio but that invite hasn’t come my way just yet 
Waikoloa has 3 nines, each with a very different strategy. It’s not the ritziest course, but still nice.
