People have knocked the 2017’s due to the fires, weather and large variance between some producers. While 2017 is not as good as a few of the record breaking recent vintages, it was still a fantastic year for select producers. Scarecrow is one of them. Below are the RP ratings for Scarecrow for the last decade. The 2017 Scarecrow is a great wine and is a testament to the vineyard and vines, some of which are 75 years old.

Parker Review “Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Scarecrow opens with notions of warm cassis, baked plums, black raspberries and boysenberries with accents of dried mint, pencil shavings and fragrant soil plus a waft of cast iron pan. Full-bodied, firm and grainy, it has a solid backbone of fantastically ripe tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and mineral laced.”
Why give up the allocation, you ask? I have over 10 years worth of inventory at our current drinking rate and am diverting most of my big dollar wine buying to other projects for a while. But, I dont want to give up my spot on the allocation, yet.
