German Spatburgunder Master Thread

2021 Weingut Bianka & Daniel Schmitt Spätburgunder (Rheinhessen)

This is a natural wine producer, I’ve tried two orange wines from them in the past and both were wildly natty. By contrast, this Spätburgunder is quite civilized, underneath the initial reduction (I would recommend decanting for at least 1 hour), it presents a very pure core of red fruit, something between cherries and cranberries, really nice acidity, a touch of VA funk a typical natty spritz texture. Overall a fun summer red with just enough depth to keep it interesting.
