Robert Panzer approached me about organizing a dinner to taste through Guyon’s 2023 wines and I thought that would be a fun idea; I’m throwing this out there to see who might be interested.
I was thinking of using our usual spot at Noreetuh, sometime in mid February around Feb 17-18. Once people are confirmed for this particular dinner they’ll need to remit payment for the wine part of the dinner so ideally you’d want to be sure you can make it; once you’re locked in you can transfer the seat to someone else if you want though.
We’d limit the tasting to 14, and the cost for the wine would be ~$285/pp for the entire 2023 lineup. Food would cost about 175/pp at Noreetuh with the slightly smaller group.
Let me know if you are interested, and hopefully we can make this happen!
Tentative list:
Robert P
Michael C
Shan A
Alex V
Robert L
Dan A
Tony G
John E
Keith Y
Ignacio S
Stan S
Julie C
Is that one bottle split across 14 glasses? Is that feasible? Is that a typical tasting pour?
I am confirmed in for Tuesday (if that is the day). For allergy reasons I would order a la carte/separately than the group menu (which Noreetuh has been fine with in the past events). Thanks!
Yes, that’s typical for tasting pours. There’s like 16 bottles so you’re going to get plenty of wine. We can do an after party and I’m sure people will bring champagne and other bottles. We could have less people but the price will go up a lot for both food and wine.
Greetings.
In all transparency, the goal of the event is both to give an opportinity for folks to get to know the 2023 wines/house style, but also to sell significant amounts of wine. If you are in a buying moratorium, or aren’t really buying wines, I would discourage you from attending.
If your interest is purely educational and not so much to purchase the wines, please let me/us know.
I would literally be flying cross country to make this happen, so I don’t wish to just be an evening’s entertainment.
Im sure that there are softer ways to indicate this, so please forgive my candor if offputting.
The wines don’t suck one bit, in ironic euphemistic terms. So I don’t fear interested buyers being uninterested after tasting.
Thanks for your understanding.
I believe this dinner will occur shortly after the 2023s will arrive in America so it will be one of the first opportunities to taste the wines from bottle. I do think the wines are outstanding and I do think after having the opportunity to taste through the entire range the wines will generate significant interest and excitement.
